The 5th Annual Poet Tree Day Returns — Reimagined as a Renaissance of Rhyme

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, VA — Prepare to be transported to a world where stories come alive, poetry takes center stage, and the past and present meet in celebration! The Charlotte Learning Center invites the entire community to the 5th Annual Poet Tree Day, now reimagined as a full-scale, two-day community celebration: the Poet Tree Faire: A Renaissance of Rhyme, taking place on April 3–4, 2026.

In keeping with the spirit of a true Renaissance — a rebirth of creativity, learning, and connection — this year’s event transforms the beloved poetry-centered tradition into a vibrant festival where literacy meets living history.

“We wanted to create an experience that highlights the transformative power of literacy while offering families and community members a chance to step into a fun, imaginative world,” says Heather Montgomery, Program Coordinator and event organizer. “At its core, this event supports adult learners — but it’s designed for everyone to enjoy.”

Literacy With a Twist of Magic

The Poet Tree Faire is more than just entertainment — it’s a powerful awareness campaign for adult literacy in Southside Virginia. With an estimated 1 in 6 adults struggling with basic reading and writing skills nationwide, events like these raise both funds and visibility for Charlotte Learning Center’s mission to empower adults through education.

Attendees will get to see first-hand how words can spark creativity and confidence through poetry readings, interactive writing stations, and public performances from local students and adult learners.

Marketplace of Wonders:Over 30 vendors — including artisans, handmade goods, local craftspeople, and food trucks — will be on hand to offer their wares.
Family Activities:Enjoy face painting, photo ops with a professional photographer, children’s games, and interactive poetry hunts.
